Prediction of Amorphous-forming Composition Range forZr-Al-Cu Alloys Based on Extended Miedema’s Model

  • Extend Miedema’s model has been used to calculate the formation enthalpy of Zr-Al, Zr-Cu and Al-Cu tenrry alloy systems in order to predict the amorphous forming compositions(AFCs)of Zr-Al-Cu ternary alloy system. In this paper, the formation enthalpy of solid solution( Hss)and amorphous phase( Hamor)of Zr-Al-Cu ternary system were calculated by Miedema theory and Toop’s model. The AFCs was determined using Hamor Hss 2 criterion. The calculation results agree well with the available experimental data
