Abstract
City development asks for the supply of land in large quantities, which results in the rapid consumption of farmland. Based on the actual urban size in 2005 and the planned land-use size in 2020, an analysis is made of urban development, the distribution of lands used for different functions and the and-use change of Neijiang from the year 2005 to 2020. The results showed that: according to the Urban Planning of the City Development of Neijiang, the construction land of Neijiang is expected to increase from 28.07% to 42.07%, while the agricultural land is to decrease from 62.28% to 33.31%; the urban development is remarkably influenced by the physical relief of Neijiang and the local policies as well; and the New City construction shall avail itself of the golden opportunities to make a rational plan and strictly adhere to it so as to ensure a proper protection of the farm land
