A Probe into Parallel Texts of Flash Figures in Chengpu War Recorded in Annals of Kingdoms in East Zhou Dynasty

  • As a special type of historical novel, in terms of shaping flash figures through employment of ancient materials Annals of Spring and Autumn by ZUO Qiuming and Historical Novels of Kingdoms, Annals of Kingdoms of in East Zhou Dynasty has two features. Firstly, original figures have got further molding, as Qie Gu. The book describes the person from seven events as “Zhao Shuai recommending Qie Gu”, “soldier training”, “a war between Jin and Cao”, “corpse-collection — tomb-digging — corpse-coffining”, “travel through Kingdom Wei”, “offering advice before death” and “Wengong's yearning for him”. Borrowing the form of Historical Novels of Kingdoms and according to the facts of Annals of Spring and Autumn by ZUO Qiuming, the writer told new stories. Secondly, the new added figures, like Yu Lang, is not seen in Annals of Spring and Autumn by ZUO Qiuming, but some parts of the deeds or events belonging to this person can be seen in Annals of Spring and Autumn by ZUO Qiuming. This shows that the writer sometimes dragged something irrelevant to his protagonist.
