Great Tragedies of Chinese Females: A New Interpretation of A Dream of Red Mansions
Graphical Abstract
Abstract
The novel A Dream of Red Mansions has described various female tragedies in and out of the Grand View Garden, Jia palace and the capital, the local towns and countries. And it has great representativeness of history and highly generalized. This cannot be compared by those other works concerning females in Ming and Qing Dynasties. And thanks to this feature, it appears quite protruding among all the four great classic novels. The building of female images with all efforts has made the novel unmatchable with all European literary works in history, led to its incomparable status in literary history and the cognitive significance in reflecting female life and fate.
