On Intrinsic Connection between ZHANG Da-qian’s Painting and Dunhuang Cave Arts

There exists intrinsic connection between ZHANG Da-qian’s painting and Dunhuang cave arts. ZHANG once had studied hard at Dunhuang for three years and had mastered the most important feature of it — the unique visual solemnity. His copy of Dunhuang frescos and the exhibition of them has played an important role in foundation of national institute of Duhuang art and maintenance and propaganda of such national treasure.
