Abstract
In the context of the ever intensifying conflict between urbanization and ecological environment, a method of factor analysis is employed to test and measure the overall urbanization level and the comprehensive quality of ecological environment in Neijiang between the years from 1999 to 2010. At the same time, by use of the theory of point elasticity in economics, an analysis is made of the ecological environment responsivity timing rules in the process of urbanization, so that a responsivity model is established for the measurement of responsivity direction and responsivity intensity. The results show that between 1999 and 2010, generally speaking, the aggregate index number for urbanization in Neijiang takes an increasing trend year by year; indices for ecological environment fluctuate quite obviously, which indicates a close relationship with the fluctuation of its many sub-indices. The ecological environment/urbanization responsivity value thus obtained can well reflect the dynamic change of the ecological environment efficiency, which is actually a dynamic change of the ecological cost paid for acquiring an urbanization of certain speed. The concept and method proposed here provides a new approach and tool for analyzing environment-urbanization relationship.
