On Linguistic Description of Figures in Four Histories

  • The language for the figure description in Four Histories strives to be in accordance with the figures’ status and experience, to show their views and psychological state, and hence to achieve the vividness in either depiction or narration. Therefore, the figures are mostly vivid and unique in personality. Once if they opened their mouth to speak, their characters would be shown clearly and their psychology would be known.
