Though the standpoint of Zhongxing Daily、 was more radical (it opposed Royalists and called to overthrow the feudal monarchy), the subject of fictions opposing Manchu was veiled. And the fiction column of the newspaper contained detective novels and followed consciously the tide both the Westerners and Easterners had long been breaking the difference between elegance and roughness. While the paper accepted and published Chinese novels, it exported the novels already published to China. In this sense, the cultural exchange made by the paper between Singapore and China was bidirectional.
