SWOT-PEST Analysis of the Cultural Tourism Development in Quanzhou

Quanzhou, as one of the national historical and cultural cities in China, boasts its advantages in tourism resources, geographical location and passenger sources, yet still problems exist in respects like an ambiguous tourism image, insufficient investment, a poor-quality tourism-engaged staff, too isolated tourism resources and low participation of tourist schemes. Quanzhou shall avail itself of the great opportunity in the construction of an economic zone in the west coast of the Taiwan Strait and other chances like the construction of Quanzhou brands, the improved transportation and the world cultural tourism development, to step up efforts to conquer difficulties arising in tourism development like the insufficient facilities for shopping and recreation. A systematic analysis of the pros and cons, opportunities and challenges from the four perspectives of politics, economy, society and technology, tells us that the implementation of the SOW, SOT, SWT and OWT strategy will make fuller use of opportunities, advantages, and help conquer disadvantages and bypass threats, thus to enhance cultural tourism development in Quanzhou
