Study on Ectoparasitic Trichodinids from Cultured Commer Fishes from Minjiang River Valley, Sichuan Province

  • During the investigation of freshwater trichodinids from Minjiang River Valley, twelve species of trichodinids were obtained from freshwater fishes, Silurus asotus, Carassius auratus, Misgurnus anguillicaudatus, Pelteobagrus fulvidraco, Hypophthalmichthys molitri, Cyprinus carpio and Ophicephalus argus. Ten of the 12 species fall into the Trichodina, namely, the Trichodina domerguei (Wallengren, 1897), T. mutabilis Kazubski & Migala, 1968, T. modesta Lom, 1970, T. acuta Lom, 1961, T. hyperparasitis Chen & Hsish, 1984, T. rostrata Kulemina, 1968, T. kazubski Van As & Basson, 1989, T. reticulata Hirschman &Partsch, 1955, T. nobilis Chen, 1963, T. uniforma Van As & Basson, 1989; and one fall into the Trichodinella, which is called Trichodinella epizootica Sramek & Husek, 1953 and one falls intoTripartiella that is called Tripartiella macrosomaBasson & Van As, 1987. T. domerguei Wallengren, was first recorded in 1897 in Sichuan and Hypophthalmichthys molitrix is an entirely new host record in Sichuan since T. rostrata Kulemina, 1968.By way of viviperception and dry silver impregnation method, all the subjects were examined under the Nikon E-600 microscope. All measurements are presented in μm and follow the uniform specific characteristic system proposed by Lom (1958). A detailed description of the denticles is presented in accordance with the method proposed by Van As & Basson (1989).
