A Study of Choice of Imperative Sentences by Complex Ones in Yuan Lyrics

  • There are three kinds of complex sentences in Yuan Lyrics: coordinated, adversative and causal. Semantic features may restrict the choice of imperative sentences. From the amount of such examples, we may find that the coordinated and causal complex sentences can be used as imperative sentences and they are mostly positive. And few adversative complex sentences can be used as imperative sentences, and they are mostly negative. As to the amount of conjunctions, most coordinated sentences do not use conjunctions and they are mostly imperative sentences. And most causal and adversative sentences use conjunctions and they are mostly common sentences.
