On the Phonetic Features of Cursing Words in Chinese and English
Abstract
There is a wide existence of cursing words in both Chinese and English, which have great value for the linguistic study. It may be quite inspiring for us to analyze such words from their microscopic phonetic features in both Chinese and English and hence find similarities and differences between the two languages. The consonants or initial letters of the Chinese cursing words are mostly plosives, fricatives or affricates. And only a few unrounded vowels can appear in the initial position.
