Breakthroughs and Limits: Examination of Nouns in Contemporary Chinese Poetry
Abstract
The academic community has paid close attention to the phenomenon of breakthroughs and limits in the language of poetry, titles, slogans, and online platforms in recent years. Drawing upon the theoretical foundation of the special language domain, this paper further refines the corpus of contemporary Chinese poetry. It examines the grammatical breakthroughs and limits of nouns in poetry. It also reveals the four aspects: 1) nouns as predicates, 2) unconventional overlap of nouns, 3) common nouns as adverbs, and 4) the mono-syllabification of disyllabic nouns. As a result, new materials are provided for related research in academia.
