Graphical Abstract
Abstract
There are a total of nine old chronicles of Neijiang County.
Neijiang County Chronicle in Jiaqing Reignby GU Wenyao and LUO Wenfu include fifty-four volumes. It is the only survived version of the three chronicles compiled during the Jiaqing Reign. It actually was prepared initially for the purpose of compiling comprehensive chronicle. Based on the compilation date of the
Sichuan Chronicles in Jiaqing Reignand internal evidence in the chronicle, it is inferred that the chronicle was completed in the seventeenth year of the Jiaqing Reign (1812). Although the chronicle has sufferred from redundancies and lack of textual organization in their section headings, it managed to preserve the content of two previous chronicles revised by ZHANG Jin in the fourth year of the Jiaqing (1799) and continued by XU Feng in the twelfth year of the Jiaqing (1807). The chronicle, in particular, contains a significant number of historical materials in Ming Dynasty. They also show the brilliant culture of Neijiang in Ming Dynasty and serve as an important document for studying Neijiang, even the whole province of Sichuan.
