The spatial effect and impact of tourism industry agglomeration upon the high quality development of tourism economy in Guangxi

The agglomeration of tourism industry is an important method for the spatial layout in tourism, which is thus of great significance in promoting high-quality development of the tourism economy. This paper constructs an indicator system for high-quality development of tourism economy, which is then used to calculate the comprehensive index of high-quality development of tourism economy in 14 cities of Guangxi from 2010 to 2021 by aid of entropy method, analyzes the spatial effect of tourism industry agglomeration on high-quality development of economy with the help of the spatial Durbin model, and clarifies how the two affect each other under certain constraints through the panel threshold model. The research results indicate that:(1) the agglomeration of tourism industries in different cities of Guangxi is found to have a positive effect on their own high-quality economic development; (2) The agglomeration of tourism industry exerts a spatial spillover effect on high-quality economic development; (3) Under the constraints of regional tourism innovation capability, industrial structure, and consumption level, tourism industry agglomeration has a non-linear and heterogeneous impact on high-quality economic development. This study analyzes the spatial effects and impact mechanisms of tourism industry agglomeration on high-quality economic development, and accordingly proposes corresponding policy recommendations to drive economic development in the new era.
