The Characteristics and Relationship of College Graduates’ Employment Insecurity and Goal Pursuits

In order to find out about the overall picture and the relationship of the employment insecurity and goal pursuits of college graduates, a total of 1, 045 college graduates were asked to complete the questionnaires measuring employment insecurity and goal pursuits.The results showed that: (1) In general, 33.971% of college graduates suffer from employment insecurity;female students and rural students have higher employment insecurity;male students, urban students, “985”, “211”college students and liberal art students have higher extrinsic goals. (2) The correlation of employment insecurity and each dimension of goal pursuits were strikingly significant. (3) The negative effect of employment insecurity on intrinsic goals was significant;the effect of employment insecurity on extrinsic goals was insignificant;employment insecurity has a significant positive prediction effect on relative extrinsic goals.Conclusion:Employment insecurity plays an important role in predicting college graduates’ goal pursuits.
