Graphical Abstract
Abstract
In response to the state’s policy of guiding some of the higher learning institutes to be transformed into appli-
cation-oriented institutions, many of them are still found to suffer from various problems: the curricular system does not match its position due in the discipline; the curricular information construction lags far too behind; curricular content cannot catch up with disciplinary development and the multiple demands; the educational philosophy, classroom teaching methods and instruc- tional means are too backward; the practice teaching is in desperate need of reinforcement; the means for curricular evaluation is oversimplified; inadequate attention is given to the teaching staff construction and teaching reform exploration and etc. In such a context, in order to meet the multiple needs in middle school geography teaching and learning, suggestions for the sys- tematic reform of human geography curriculum are put forth in aspects like the curriculum development, teaching content, teaching methodology and assessment for higher normal universities. .
