The Influencing Factors Analysis on Development Situations and New-type Urbanization in Sichuan Province

By establishing the assessment indicators system of new-type urbanization, and adopting the means of Projection Pursuit Model, Grey Relational Analysis and ARCGIS technology, a research into the development Level, spatial pattern and influencing factors of new urbanization is conducted in the21 prefectures and cities under the administration of Sichuan. It is found that the new-type urbanization in Sichuan takes an overall rising trend, yet the internal development is rather imbal- anced, with the eastern plain areas enjoying a higher level of urbanization over the western plateau areas, and the hinterland ar- eas of the plain higher than the peripheral areas;among the many influencing factors, the resource environment, public service, urban-rural coordination and population urbanization, which are thought to reflect the core connotation of the new-type urbani- zation, are found to exert a much stronger impact, while the traditional factors are found to exert increasingly weak influence in this regard; and lastly, come counter-measures are suggested for further promotion of the new-type urbanization.
