Graphical Abstract
Abstract
By surveying467 middle school students of Anhui Province with the Adolescents’ Life Events Scale, the Adolescents’ Social Adjustment and the Middle school students’ Dispositional Hope Scale, the effect of negative life events and dis- positional hope on social adjustment were explored. The results show the following: The six dimensions of negative life events were negatively correlated with positive adjustment(P<0. 01), positively correlated with negative adjustment(P<0. 01), and were negatively correlated with dispositional hope(P<0. 05). Dispositional hope was positively correlated with positive adjust- ment(P<0. 01) , and were negatively correlated with negative adjustment(P<0. 01). Dispositional hope fully mediated the re- lationship between negative life events and positive adjustment; however, it mediated partially the relationship between nega- tive life events and negative adjustment.
