A Preliminary Study of Family Zhao of Imperial Examination in Tang Dynasty

The imperial examination family was a special family form which appeared after the implementation of the imperial examinations. Its basic feature was its family members obtained the scholarly honor or official rank through imperial examinations, and hence exerted certain influence in local places or nationwide. On the basis of those successful people out of imperial examinations in Records of Successful Literati out of Imperial Examinations by XU Song of Qing Dynasty, Amendments to Records of Successful Literati out of Imperial Examinations by MENG Er-dong of our time, and Corrections of Amendments to Records of Successful Literati out of Imperial Examinations by the author of this paper, this paper has made a survey on Family Zhao of imperial examinations in Tang Dynasty.
