On the Teaching Content of Reading from a Perspective of Constructivism

Abstract
The teaching content of reading is the vivid reflection of relation between knowledge and life. Such content with exam as the teaching orientation is mostly shown as the experts' interpretation conclusions of texts, being confined to the content of Chinese textbooks and complete explanation by teachers. However, the transformation from the passive acceptance to the initiative construction is the ideal appeal of reading teaching innovation. The teaching content of reading with constructivist theory as the guidance involves three aspects — teachers' pre-class construction and students' prevision cognition of texts, reconstruction of reading teaching content during the in-class interaction between teachers and students, and the after-class sorting of teaching content by both teachers and students based on self-reflection. They are the natural sediments of the reading teaching after itundergoes “free imagination”, “external criticism” and “internal criticism”.
