On Aesthetic Features of ZHANG Da-qian's Lotus Painting

  • Mr. ZHANG Da-qian was a master in the painting history of modern China. He made high artistic achievements in paintings of figures, landscape and flower and birds. In the flower-bird paintings, he especially was good at painting lotus. After several decades of effort and exploration, “Da-qian Lotus Painting” found its unique status in the painting history of modern China and had important aesthetic research value. Its unique aesthetic features are expressed as: water ink as the form with vivid artistic concept and beauty, key necessary splash with fresh and gorgeous beauty, splash of ink and color with grandeur.
