On Form-added Characters in the Stone Inscriptions of Han, Weiand the Following Six Dynasties

  • There are a lot of form-added characters in the stone inscriptions of Han, Wei and the following six dynasties. The added forms or symbols not only contribute to the formation of some Chinese phonograms, but also to the creation of variant characters. It is of positive significance to study carefully the form-added characters in the stone inscriptions of Han, Wei and the following six dynasties, clarify the relations among characters and words, and generalize their types, roots, functions and influence for the reading and sorting of ancient works and for the study of evolvement of Chinese characters.
