SNARC Effect and Its Processing Mechanism Concerning theNumber of Chinese Character Stroke

  • Stimulus Classification Paradigm was adopted by two experiments, in which the research subjects are asked to give a rapid judgment of the number and color of the Chinese character stroke by means of clicking the relevant buttons, to investigate whether the SNARC effect is presented in the processing of the number of Chinese character stroke and find out about its SNARC effect processing mechanism. The result is found that:( 1)as for the Chinese characters with fewer strokes, in the classification of both the number and color of the Chinese character stroke, the left hand gives a faster response than right hand. On the contrary, in case of the Chinese characters with more strokes, the right hand is doing better than the left hand.(2)there exists a SNARC effect in the processing of Chinese character stroke, the number of the Chinese character stroke can be automatically processed.
