Liangshan Minority Traditional Sports Development and Counter Measures ——A Case Study of the Sport of Yi Wrestling

By means of literature survey, questionnaires, mathematical statistics and interviews of experts, an investigation is made of the status quo of the Yi wrestling sports in Liangshan. It is found that the sport boasts its adequate public participation and regional advantages; the Yi people attach great importance to the inheritance and development of wrestling; the Yi wrestlers have won remarkable achievements in wrestling sports events at all levels; wrestling sports as a carrier of the sports culture dissemination, are widespread in people's life. However, due to regional cultural characteristics, backward economic development, the differences of the regional geographic environment, and many other factors, the wrestling sport items see many regional differences with other regions, which pose huge challenges for the development space for the sport. It is suggested that legislation be made to safeguard the development of the wrestling sport; preferential policies, financial support and point-to-point support given to the development of this sport; the principle of “ the factual and realistic work style” and “to suit measures to local conditions” be strictly adhered to.
