On Said's Criticism of Textualist Literary Theoriesb
Graphical Abstract
Abstract
In the late 1960s, the post-modernist theory pioneered by Derrida began to prevail in France and America. And it led to the popularity of textualist literary theory. However, as one of introducers of the post-modernist theory into America, Said did not become a loyal follower of such theory. Instead, with Derrida sinking into text, functional paradigm indulging in textuality and American deconstructionist critical group as the fulcrum, he began to criticize and make reflections on the textualist literary theory. And the textual conception is related to the logic base of Said's critical practice as in his book Orientalism.
