Zhou Yi Cheng Zhu Xian Sheng Chuan Yi Fu Lu(
Appendix to the Commentaries of Cheng Yi and Zhu Xi on The Book of Changes). In the fourth year of the Baoyou Reign (1256), he ranked forty-sixth in the fifth class of the final imperial examination where WEN Tianxiang was
zhuangyuan(the number one scholar). After passing the examination, he initially served as the assistant of magistrate in Jixi County. In the fifth year of the Jingding (1264), he was appointed as an officer in charge of government land in Anji branch. From the third to the sixth year of the reign of Xianchun Reign (1267-1270), he held the position of Director General of the Huating maritime customs in Jiaxing Prefecture. In the seventh to ninth years, he served as the prefect of Ruizhou, and he was appointed as the commissioner of Changping (grain reserve) for Hunan in the ninth year. In the following year, he became the transport commissioner of Hunan. He also held positions as the assistant officer of the supreme judicial administration, and the principal officer in charge of specific trials. Finally, he was appointed as a director of a bureau in the ministry of personnel.
